From October 5 to 11, 2022 you will be able to enjoy an impressive and hypnotic programming with a main theme about climate change and its consequences.
Along with the projections, a series of parallel activities are offered, such as; “Training for committed filmmakers: the perfect plan”, “Make your festival sustainable: Consultants at your disposal”, “ANOTHER HUERTO: Sow new values”, “Painting workshop for children: Winged life” and “Ecotopic dialogues”.
8th edition in person in MADRID and online throughout the Spanish territory through FILMIN and in its webpage.
In total, the program is made up of 34 titles divided into seven sections. These selected films deal with current issues such as climate change and its consequences, deforestation, the consequences of mass tourism, the loss of biodiversity and respect for sustainable values through the relationship between man and nature.
FESTIVAL SECTIONS
The OFFICIAL SECTION is made up of nine documentary feature films, seven of them previously unreleased in Spain, which are up for the Audience Award and the €2,500 Odyssey Award, awarded by the jury made up of Ana Torres, Product Manager at the distributor Elastic Films; Gimena Arensburg, programming director of Canal Odisea; and Javier Peña, environmental communicator, climate activist and founder of Hope!.
In the IMPACT SECTION films are recovered that, due to their great cultural interest and awareness, are shown again for the general public. There will be nine documentaries that will also compete for the Audience Award. Within this section, the screening, in collaboration with the DOCMA association and coinciding with the celebration of the Spanish Cinema Day on October 6, of the Spanish feature film Urak aske: eliminate prey , restore rivers with a script and direction by the Basque journalist Bego Zubia Gallastegi.
The contest section WHEEL FOR CHANGE (RXC), sponsored by SIGNUS Ecovalor (Collective Management System for End-of-Life Tires) has a national and an international category. The nine Spanish short films will be eligible for the Young Jury Prize with a prize money of €600. For this edition, the international competition is recovered, this time made up of seven risky and avant-garde shorts, from countries such as Peru, Ukraine, Kenya and Italy, the winning short film (the one with the most views) will receive €400. The international selection is available on the web and on the YouTube of the festival.
For its part, within the non-competitive sections, there is ORÍGENES. It is made up of three authentic luxury classic films that can be seen at the Filmoteca Española and will be presented by the film critic José Félix Collazos: Robinson Crusoe (1954) by Luis Buñuel, Moby Dick (1956) by John Huston and Tabu: A Story of the South (1931) Seas directed by F.W. Murnau.
Another of the non-competitive sections is PRODUCED IN GREEN, associated with one of the festival's activities (“Training for committed filmmakers”), although you can attend its screenings independently. It is made up of three films that have reduced their carbon footprint in their production, in addition to measuring CO2 emissions. They are Everything Will Change directed by Marten Persiel, L´Horizon by Emilie Carpentier, and In the Heights directed by Jon M. Chu.
